Jesse and Juanita Hall received final sentencing on Friday in Bell Circuit Court.

Juanita Hall, 55, was charged with five counts of theft of labor in excess of $500, six counts of diversion of charitable gaming funds for financial benefit, theft by failure to make required disposition over $500, theft by deception over $10,000 and theft by failure to make required disposition over $10,000.

Jesse Hall, 65, was charged with six counts of diversion of charitable gaming funds for financial benefit over $300, three counts of theft by failure to make required disposition over $500 and one count of theft by failure to make required disposition over $10,000.

For the five counts of theft of labor, Juanita Hall was sentenced to five years in the penitentiary. If the sentence is probated, she will serve five years of supervised probation. She received the same sentencing for the remaining charges.

Jesse Hall was sentenced to five years in the penitentiary and 90 days in the Bell County Jail for all the charges. If the sentence is probated, he will be placed on supervised probation for five years.

The two were also taken into custody during the court proceedings because they failed to pay the restitution ($77,741) prior to the hearing. They were charged with contempt of court. There is about $7,000 still owed for restitution. The Halls will remain in custody until the remaining balance is paid.

A Pineville man was also sentenced on Friday for an assault charge. Wilburn Kevin Partin, 26, was sentenced on an amended charge of second-degree assault. He will serve 10 years in the penitentiary.

He was originally charged with first-degree assault after he stabbed a male victim in the right forearm and caused serious physical damage, according to the indictment.

In other court news, a man accused of forging multiple checks pleaded guilty on Friday. Daniel Lee Farrington Jr., 42, pleaded guilty to all 173 counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Karen Greene Blondell recommended Farrington be sentenced to five years under all counts. If the sentence is probated, he will serve five years of supervised probation.

Farrington must also pay restitution in the amount of $39,180.30 to the victims in 60 monthly installments (approximately $653 a month). If he misses a payment he can be apprehended.

Farrington will receive final sentencing on March 4.

Other sentencings handed down in circuit court on Friday:

* Wilburn Partin Sr., 62, of Pineville, was sentenced to five years in the penitentiary for misrepresentation to receive benefits over $100. If the sentence is probated, he will be placed on supervised probation for five years;

* Tina Marie Norris, 47, of Middlesboro, was sentenced on three different charges. She was sentenced to five years in the penitentiary on the charge of first-degree possession of a controlled substance and 12 months in the Bell County Jail on the charge of third-degree possession of a controlled substance. She was also sentenced to five years in the penitentiary for four counts of being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun, four counts of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and receiving stolen property. Sentences are to run concurrently with each other;

* Jeffery Taylor was sentenced on three separate indictments. On the first, he was sentenced to five years in the penitentiary on the charge of third-degree burglary. He was sentenced to five years in the penitentiary on the charge of theft by unlawful taking on the second indictment. On the third indictment, Taylor was sentenced to five years on the charge of complicity to commit theft by unlawful taking;

* Jennifer Shackelford was sentenced to 12 months in the Bell County Jail for the charge of theft by unlawful taking and five years in the penitentiary for the charge of theft of identity of another without consent;

* Christopher L. Cochran, 41, of Knoxville, Tenn., was sentenced on an amended charge of three counts of second-degree possession of a controlled substance. He was sentenced to 12 months in the Bell County Jail on all charges. If the sentence is probated, he will be placed on 24 months probation. He must also complete the drug court program;

* John D. Rutherford, 53, of Hamilton, Ohio, was sentenced to five years in the penitentiary on the charge of first-degree fleeing or evading police and first-degree wanton endangerment. He was also sentenced to 12 months in the Bell County Jail on the charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence;

* Jason C. Johnson was sentenced to three years in the penitentiary on the charge of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
