A trial date was set in Bell County Circuit Court on Friday for a Middlesboro man accused of numerous sexual offenses involving boys under the age of 12.
Jason Griffey, 29, will face a jury on May 7. Several families of the alleged victims were present in court for the hearing.
Griffey was indicted on 11 counts of first-degree sodomy, seven counts of first-degree sexual abuse and nine counts of first-degree criminal attempt to commit sexual abuse.
He was originally arrested on Oct. 14, 2011, for just the 11 counts of sodomy. He was charged with sexual abuse and criminal attempt to commit sexual abuse following an investigation.
Griffey was found competent to stand trial on the charges about a month ago.
