A Middlesboro man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly attempted to steal a television from Walmart. Danny Reed Ward Jr., 30, was arrested by officer Brad Cawood of the Middlesboro Police Department (MPD) and charged with theft by unlawful taking over $500.

According to the arrest citation, MPD received a report that a male in a black sweatshirt had pushed a $548 plasma television out of Walmart. When confronted, the male ran into the parking lot.

When officers arrived, they spoke with a female who stated the man got into a blue Neon. Sgt. Ben Spurlock of the MPD located the vehicle coming back from Pineville and stopped it.

Ward was taken back to Walmart and identified as the man pushing the television out of Walmart. As of Thursday afternoon, he was still in custody in the Bell County Detention Center.
