Hobert Vernon Venable, 88, Keavy, formerly of Pineville, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013, at the Laurel Manor Nursing Home in New Tazewell, TN following a long illness. Born June 5, 1924 in Baxter, he worked as a machinist for the L & N RailRoad Loyall Yard for more than 20 years. Hobert was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp. serving during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maudaline Ford Venable; his parents, William and Betty Jane Boggs Venable; one son, Palmer Vernon Venable; one brother, William Ray “Red” Venable; and six sisters, Gladys Laws, Edith Venable Davis, Carolyn Allen, Estelle Jones, Gaynell Burgin and Billie Jean Venable.
Survivors include two children, Bernard Venable, Keavy; and Charles Benjamin Venable, Tampa FL; one brother, Ronald Pete Venable and wife, Phyllis, Speedwell, TN; one sister, Mary Ann Wright and husband, Harold, Karnes, TN; and one half-brother, Dennis Venable, Pineville.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. in the Chapel of the Loyall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Loyall Funeral Home with the Reverend Valarie Herren Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery, Keith, KY. Pallbearers will be the Harlan Honor Guard which will also perform military rites.
