William Arthur Childers, 78 of Middlesboro, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013 at his home. He was born January 18, 1935 at Balkan, KY, the son of the late Charles Arthur and Ruby Cox Childers. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a Master Mason, a Shriner and was also a Kentucky Colonel. He retired from General Motors after 35 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother.
He is survived by the following members of his family: 2 daughters: Shelia Ann Daniels and Sharon Gail Nunn; 4 sisters: JoAnne (Al) Meek, Sandra Kaye (George) Helton, Wanda Faye (Tony) Smith, Sharon (Gabriel) Collett; 6 grandchildren: Arvey Lee Daniels, Chris Daniels, Matthew Daniels, Charles Edward Gage, Travis Bradford Gage and Alisha Marie Gage; 7 step children; special friends: Larry, Cari and Eddie; 12 great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Howard presiding.
Music will be provided by Bill Durham.
Interment will be in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens with military honors will be given by the American Legion Dewey Guy Post # 14 of Middlesboro.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, at the Creech Funeral Home.
Masonic rites will be given at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday by the Pinnacle Masonic Lodge # 661 of Middlesboro.
