Most say when one door closes, a window of opportunity opens. The community is hoping this proves true for Bell County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Nioma Lawson.
Lawson is resigning from her position as director and will soon be relocating from the area.
For several years, Lawson has dedicated her time to assist more than 250 chamber business members and thousands of employees.
On Friday, many local business leaders, government officials, chamber members, friends and others gathered at the chamber for a surprise farewell celebration for Lawson.
As part of the celebration Chamber President John Moore presented Lawson with a certificate of appreciation. She also received plaques from U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, U.S. Congressman Hal Rogers, State Senator Brandon Smith and many others.
