PINEVILLE — Sixty-year-old Opal Taylor’s case of receiving stolen property, under $300, was continued during an arraignment held in Bell District Court on Tuesday morning.

Following an internal investigation by Green Hills property owner Sam Mars, Taylor was arrested on May 13 by Middlesboro Police Dept., from Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro. She is charged with stealing flowers and grave decorations from several plots at the cemetery.

According to the Bell County Circuit Court Clerk’s office, Taylor told Honorary Judge Robert Costanzo that she didn’t understand the charges against her.

Costanzo advised Taylor to speak with an attorney regarding her rights and legal obligations. He also granted her a continuation (or later court date). She will appear in court again June 16 at 9 a.m.

If a person got caught stealing change out of you car's ash tray, they wouldn't be called a car thief.

The headline misleads us into believing that that Opal Taylor is a grave robber. As far as I know there were no graves dug up with items stolen from inside the coffin.

Costanzo is just an honorary judge? So is Bowling a senile judge?

This person isn't a grave robber or body snatcher. She stole the flowers from atop the graves. A petty theft would be more accurate.

I am glad to see one of the awful people who steal flowers from the dead arrested. I can't keep flowers on my husband's grave for people stealing them. This the only thing I have left to do for him and it hurts me to see it happen
