Middlesboro Board of Education has yet to reach a decision regarding next year’s school superintendent. They have, however, took the time to acquaint each superintendent candidate with the Middlesboro School System.

On Tuesday, superintendent candidate Marion Sowders toured Middlesboro High School alongside Board Chairman Bill Johnson and Superintendent Darryl Wilder. Pictured (from left) is Middlesboro High School Principal Sheila Smith, candidate Sowders and Superintendent Wilder as they chat outside the school’s lobby.

Sowders, who was listed as one of the top five candidates to replace Wilder after his retirement, was named a Highly Skilled Educator for the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) in 2005.

The board is expected to reach a final decision before the high school’s graduation on June 5.
