Dr. Evans and Welch were joined in marriage at a 6 p.m. ceremony at the Cumberland Gap Wedding Chapel by the Rev. James R. O’Neal Jr.
The bride is the daughter of Arweida Evans and the late Bernley Evans of Cumberland Gap, tenn., and the bridegroom is the son of Larry and Wanda Welch of Speedwell, Tenn.
As a part of the ceremony, the couple released a male and female dove to spiritually represent the beginning of their journey together, and Chelcee Evans released a basket of 12 doves to represent their becoming a family.
The newlyweds were taken to the Cumberland Gap Convention Center by horse and buggy for a reception with family and friends. The couple left the reception by limousine in order to attend another party at The Curve in Straight Branch, They then returned to the Gap to spend the night at The Cabin before leaving for a honeymoon to Hawaii
The new family will make their home at 160 Evans Acres.
Wedding attendants included maid of honor Nikki Burke, and bride’s maids Crystal Daniels and Tammy Hatfield, best man Brian Ridenour, groomsmen, Kiplen Evans, Kip Evans, and miniature bride Chelcee Evans. Michaela Hatfield attended the guest book and wedding programs. The wedding was planned and photographed by Danna Smith, videoed by Adam Haley and directed by Beverly Burke.
