Homeless Shelter set to re-open

To the editor:

It is often said when one door closes, another opens. One year after the homeless shelter in Bell County closed it's door, The Lighthouse Ministries Safe Haven Shelter is about to open it's door. After purchasing the old shelter building at 117 Pine Street in Pineville and countless hours of hard work the shelter is scheduled to open the first of August.

Lighthouse Ministries, an already busy Ministry, including the Mission, a Daycare and a Medical Clinic, felt the need to expand their efforts to help aid the less fortunate in this area and open a Homeless Shelter.

We wanted the community to be informed on what many feel is desperately needed in this area, and know that we will be open 24 hours a day 7 days a week so that anytime the need for an emergency shelter comes up, we will be available. A strong faith and compassion motivates each of us involved in The Lighthouse Safe Haven shelter. The Board of Directors consist of dedicated members of the Trinity Pentecostal Lighthouse, with Rev. Darrell Lowe serving as Chairman of the Board, James Teaney serving as Vice-Chairman with members, James Caldwell, Roger Hoskins, Danny Miller, Craig Saylor and Joe Saylor. The shelter will be under the Direction of Eulene Brock, assisted by Joyce Wichman, secretary and Jackie Hoskins, treasurer.

As the time nears to open we are reaching out to the community for your support We are always in need of donations and right now, we are in need of volunteers for every shift. If you would be interested in volunteering, applications may be picked up at the shelter on Pine Street, from 8am to 4pm. Monday through Friday. If you have any questions about making donations, need a place, or know someone who needs a place to stay once we are open, you may call The Lighthouse Safe Haven Shelter at 337-9736. We are dedicated to serving the community as God has lead us to do. From each member of the Board, Eulene, Jackie and myself, Thank You for your support.
