Thank you for your fair and unbiased Drug Court article. Your investigative work is impressive, always getting quotes from all parties involved before going to print. While somewhat skeptical at first, I've witnessed some remarkable recovery stories over the last 5 years, with numerous substance abusers becoming hard working, tax paying, productive citizens. In order to ensure the integrity of this program, UNITE Bell County will assemble a Drug Court team, represented by different sectors of the Bell County community. The sheriff, both police chiefs, KSP, the County Attorney and the Commonwealth Attorney, both judges, an Operation UNITE representative and several other key community members will be asked to serve. As in Harlan and Knox counties, these people will decide on admittance into Drug Court. We are sorry that we have not acted on this sooner, so thanks again for bringing this to the forefront.
UNITE Bell County is the total financial support behind all drug court activities. We are very appreciative of the fine job that Drug Court supervisors Erin Freeman and Angie Sinkhorn are providing for our participants. By establishing a Drug Court Team we hope to regulate consistency in operations, maintain morale of law enforcement, and establish a confident trust from the taxpayers of the Commonwealth.
Respectfully,
Cathy Woolum
UNITE Bell County Co-chair
