A collision occurred at the 30th Street traffic light on Cumberland Avenue around 2 p.m. on Thurday. According to the Middlesboro Police Department (MPD), Danielle E. Holbrook of Coeburn, Virginia, was traveling East on Cumberland Avenue in a Chevrolet Silverado truck when she slammed into a Dodge Stratus driven by Neal F. Cox of Pineville, at the 30th Street intersection. Holbrook claimed that she briefly looked down to the floorboard of her automobile, and when she looked back up, the light had changed to green and she was unable to avoid the collision with the other vehicle.

The impact of the crash caused the driver of the Dodge Stratus to be entrapped within the vehicle. The Bell County Rescue Squad was notified immediately and they assisted in the removal of both driver’s side doors and the roof of the vehicle, in order to help the victims. Both Neal F. Cox and Jimmy Ferrell were transported to the Middlesboro ARH. Three witnesses confirmed MPD’s collision report.
