SPEEDWELL, Tenn. — Police arrested two men this week for their alleged roles in the robbery of a Claiborne County church on July 29.

Walter Shawn Patterson and Bill Jesse Miracle were arrested and each charged with burglary and theft of items valued at more than $1,000 after an extensive investigation by Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department Captain David Honeycutt, Lt. Johnny Collins and Middlesboro Police Department Detective Joe Holder.

Pastor Bill Gaylor of the Shipley Grove Church of God in Speedwell reported the robbery, also reporting extensive damage to the church. The following items were stolen: a Martin electric guitar, a Peavey electric guitar, an electric bass guitar, a banjo, a Martin flat top guitar, a flat top guitar, a Peavey amp, other amps, guitar clamps, a tuner and a Peavey microphone.

All of these items were recovered in Middlesboro. Police say that the investigation is continuing and that additional charges are expected in Bell County, Ky., including felony charges for receiving stolen property valued over $500.

Police also say that this is part of an investigation into a burglary ring in the Speedwell Community and other arrests are expected.
