Born in Middlesboro on December 15, 1950, he was the son of Clair and Flora Jane Yoakum Hunley. He was employed at England Corsair of New Tazewell for over 20 years, and was a member and first devoted deacon of Garmeda Missionary Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Ditt and Louisa Yoakum, and Charles and Lucy Jane Luttrell Hunley.
Survivors include his father and mother, Clair and Flora Hunley of Middlesboro; his wife, Emma Lee Bayless Hunley of Middlesboro; three children, Doris Evans (Linnis), William Hunley Jr., and Jody Hunley; grandchildren, Brandon Evans, Lindsey Evans, and Brooklyn Hunley; four sisters, Patricia Huddleston (Steve), Linda Stevenson (Eric), Selda Sowders (David), Alta Emmett (Rick); brothers-in-law, Don, Dan, Dennis, Robert, Allen and James Bayless; sisters-in-laws, Nancy Warwick and Willena Metcalf; and other frelatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.Mark Prater presiding. Music will be by Garmeda Missionary Baptist Church Choir.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Green Hills Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tim Prater, Mark Hendrickson, Harvey Johnson, Brandon Evans, Jake Sowders, and Tim Sowders.
