MIDDLESBORO — Elizabeth C. Buckner, age 87, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2009, at Middlesboro ARH Hospital.

Born November 12, 1921, in Marion, Ill. she was the daughter of the late John Cain Sr. and Edith Enis Cain. She had worked as a bookkeeper for Wal-Mart for many years, and was a member of the First Baptist Church and Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred W. Buckner Sr.; two sisters, Mildred Kellum and Dorothy Yoakum; and two brothers, James C. Cain and Larry Cain.

Survivor include her three children, Fred W. (Faye) Buckner Jr. of Middlesboro, Carole B. Ball (Stan Jones) of Frankfort, Ky., and Rodney (Robin Keyes) Buckner of New Tazewell, Tenn.; a brother John D. Cain Jr. of Baltimore, Md.; three sisters, Betty Whitbeck of Guatemala City, Guatemala, Gloria (James) Purnell of Birmingham, Ala., and Peggy Cain of Mobile, Ala.; grandchildren, Fred (Charlotte) Buckner III of Lexington, Ky., Jon Todd (Renee) Buckner of Independence, Ky., John R. “Randy” Ball of Middlesboro, Carole Elizabeth “Carabeth” Williamson of Nashville, Tenn., and William Baylor Ball of Middlesboro; ten great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 7 p.m. Monday at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Purnell and the Rev. William Boyd Bingham III presiding. Music was by Jimmy Jackson and Dickie Siler.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Green Hills Memorial Gardens, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family received friends from 5:30-7 p.m. Monday at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel.

Creech Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
