She was a member of Clear Springs Baptist Church in Corryton, where she joyfully served as greeter for the past several years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Hunley and Lucy Jane Hunley Luttrell; stepfather, Elmer Luttrell; husband of 51 years, the Rev. Oscar Garrett; sister, Alta Hunley Davis Stooksbury; brothers, Norman Hunley and Charles Hunley; and nephew, Bill Hunley.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Anita Garrett of Knoxville; grandsons Kent, Brock and Grant Garrett, all of Knoxville; brother and sister-in-law, Clair and Flora Hunley of Middlesboro; sister-in-law, Emma Lee Hunley of Cumberland Gap, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Edith Livingston of Corryton; sister-in-law, Barbara Watson of Knoxville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, E.C. and Kate Garrett of Knoxville; a host of nieces and nephews and legions of special friends from the churches that she attended with her husband during the years of his ministry.
The family will receive friends from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, at Mynatt Funeral Home Chapel in Fountain City, with funeral service to follow with the Rev. Jerry Vittatoe, Dr. Damon Patterson, and the Rev. Bill McCarter officiating.
The family will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home for procession, graveside service and interment at Halls Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers are Kent Garrett, Brock Garrett, Grant Garrett, Norman G. Hunley, Dennis Hunley, Larry Hunley, and Jerry Hunley. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Beeler, the Rev. Johnnie Beeler, Jimmy Beeler, Jack Treece, Ron Clevenger, Charlie Campbell, Mike Lakin, Gene Johnson and Richard Lett.
