(HARLAN, KY) At 10:45 am, Christopher Smith turned himself in to the Letcher County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Smith was transported back to Harlan by Kentucky State Police Post 10 where he was charged for Murder with a bond set at $25 million. Other charges are pending. He will be lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center. This case is still under investigation by Detective Michael Cornett of Kentucky State Police Post 10 Harlan.
CUMBERLAND, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky State Police are looking for an eastern Kentucky man after the fatal shooting of a woman during a struggle.
A KSP news release early Tuesday said 37-year-old Christopher P. Smith was wanted on a murder charge after the death of 32-year-old Kimberly R. Ealy, also of Cumberland, Monday night.
Police said Smith was arguing with his girlfriend, Melissa Clark, when he and Ealy began struggling. Police said Smith discharged a firearm, killing Ealy.
Clark and a 13-year-old escaped.
The KSP said Smith was driving a 1997 black Ford F-150 pickup truck and is considered armed and dangerous.
