Lions stumble at Lynn Camp
Pineville was back in action Monday night at Lynn Camp where the Wildcats were able to push the tempo in the second half and pull out a 77-68 win.
Tyler Wagner scored 26 points to lead Lynn Camp while Josh Solis added 22 and Cody Mobley 14.
The Lions balanced attack was led once again by Madon with 14 points. Joining him double figures for Pineville were senior forward Tyler Tuttle with 13, and Hendrickson with 12.
Pineville got some strong play off their bench from freshmen John Simpson and Byron David Asher.
Simpson scored nine points while Asher added eight. Hollingsworth finished with seven.
After falling behind by 11 early in the fourth quarter the Lions made on last surge. Tuttle knocked down a long jumper and later was fouled after stealing the ball from Brad Bargo.
Bargo also picked up a technical foul on the play. Tuttle hit one free throw, then Madon sank both technicals. Tuttle’s 14-foot jumper on the following possession brought Pinevile to within four at 61-57.
But Wagner beat the Lions back down the court for a layup and after three missed shots and a turnover he found Brian Smith for another easy basket to put the Wildcats up 65-57 with just under four minutes to play.
Mobley’s 3 less than a minute later pushed the lead back to 11 and the Lions wouldn’t get closer than seven the rest of the way.
Lynn Camp (7-6) hosts Jackson County Thursday while Pineville (3-7) plays at Model Friday night.
