She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William Henry Smith; brothers, Jim Carter, Hatton Carter, Rob Carter and Dick Carter; sisters, Margaret Ferguson, Mary Cheek and Marie Carter;
Survivors include her five sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence and Teresa Smith. Ewing, Ronnie and Diana Smith. Ewing, Gene and Lisa Smith, Ewing, David and Etta Smith, Ewing, and Michael and Crystal Smith, Ewing; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ruby and Cliff Hsieh, Knoxville, Tenn., Nell and L. J. Ellis, Rose Hill, Va., and Kathy and Brad Vass, Ewing; 19 grandchildren: Brian, Amy and Melissa Hsieh; Amy, Andrea, and Jeff Smith; Ricky and Angela Ellis; Jamie Smith; Josh Barnes; Bambi, Nick and Derek Williams; Tasha and David Smith; Brandy and Casey Vass; Kaitlyn and Allie Smith; 16 great-grandchildren; special niece, Joann Crow, and many other nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 21, at Arney-Mullins Funeral Home in Rose Hill.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, January 22, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Tommy Morrow officiating.
Graveside service will follow in the Richmond Cemetery in Ewing, Va.
