Bell County Circuit Court hands down sentences

PINEVILLE — The Bell County Circuit Court recently handed down sentences:

Violet Hembree, 26, of Middlesboro was found guilty of first degree trafficking in a controlled substance, a Class C Felony, as a first offense; and second degree trafficking in a controlled substance, a Class D Felony, as a first offense. Hembree was sentenced to serve six years in a state penitentiary designated by the Kentucky Department of Corrections. She will be required to pay court costs in the amount of $151 within 180 days of release, and will receive credit for one day time served in jail.

Jackie Dewayne Baker, 34, of Fourmile was found guilty of first degree trafficking in a controlled substance, a Class C Felony, as a first offense. Baker was sentenced to serve eight years in a state penitentiary designated by the Kentucky Department of Corrections. He will be required to pay court costs in the amount of $151 within 180 days of release, and will receive credit for two days time served in jail.

Rosa Lynn King, 30, of Middlesboro was found guilty of two counts of second degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, each a Class D Felony, and persistent felony offender in the second degree, a Class C Felony. King was sentenced to serve five years in a state penitentiary designated by the Kentucky Department of Corrections, and will be required to pay court costs in the amount of $151 within 180 days of release. King will also be required to pay restitution in the amount of $565.30 on behalf of the victim, Certegy Check Services, of St. Petersburg, Florida.

Donnie Ray Rutherford, 36, of Pineville was found guilty of giving peace officer false name or address, a Class B Misdemeanor. Rutherford was sentenced to serve 60 days in the Bell County Jail, and will be required to pay court costs in the amount of $151 within 180 days of release.

Harvey Brummett, 44, of Middlesboro was found guilty of two counts of second degree trafficking in a controlled substance, each a Class D Felony, as a first offense, and persistent felony offender in the second degree, a Class B Felony. Brummett was sentenced to serve 15 years in a state penitentiary designated by the Kentucky Department of Corrections. He will be required to pay court costs in the amount of $151 within 180 days of release, and will receive credit for 11 days time served in jail.

Justin Maiden, 21, of Pineville was found guilty of an amended charge of theft by unlawful taking (under $300), a Class A Misdemeanor. Maiden was sentenced to serve one year in the Bell County Jail, which shall be probated, and he will be placed on supervised probation for a period of two years under specific terms and conditions. He will be required to pay court costs in the amount of $151 within 180 days. Maiden will also be required to pay restitution in the amount of $2,695 on behalf of the victim, John Ed Allen, of Fourmile.

Chevay Mackillop, 29, of Hulen was found guilty of six counts of first degree trafficking in a controlled substance, each a Class C Felony, as a first offense; four counts of third degree trafficking in a controlled substance, each a Class A Misdemeanor, as a first offense; and trafficking in marijuana (less than eight ounces), a Class A Misdemeanor, as a first offense. Mackillop was sentenced to serve ten years in a state penitentiary designated by the Kentucky Department of Corrections. Mackillop will be required to pay court costs in the amount of $151 within 180 days of release, and will receive credit for two days time served in jail.

Pordnijiah M. Flanary, 20, of Middlesboro was found guilty of an amended charge of second degree criminal mischief, a Class A Misdemeanor. Flanary was sentenced to serve 90 days in the Bell County Jail, and will be required to pay court costs in the amount of $151 within 180 days. She will also be required to pay restitution in the amount of $1,203.71 on behalf of the victim, Theresa Flynn, of Mountain Home, Tenn., and will receive credit for 15 days time served in jail.

I wish the police could bust all the drug dealers in bell co.I also wonder where all the drugs are coming from.I am thankful they busted so many in the lasy few days,but in my oppinion there not gonna put a dent in drug dealers till they find out where there coming from and get the main drug dealers that are bringing them here for the smaller pushers.
