ARJAY — Genira Warren Smith, age 81, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at Britthaven.

Born in Knox County, Ky., on February 3, 1929, she was the daughter of late James and Troy Wagner Warren. She believed in the Holiness faith and had worked in the housekeeping department at Pine Mountain State Park.

In addition to her parents , she was preceded in death by her first husband, Gillis Messer; children, Anna Jean Messer, Wanda Gambrel, Suetta Messer and Dorothy Howard; grandchildren, Sharon Jones and Larry E. Moore Jr., brothers, James Warren Jr. and Lee Warren.

Survivors include her husband, MacArthur Smith; son, Jackie (Regina) Messer; daughter, Mabel (Jerry) Brummett; grandchildren, Jerry Brummett Jr., Tammy Krummel, Michael Gambrel, Michelle Brummett, Melissa Johnson, Steven Smith, Christopher Gambrel, Jamie Messer, Herbert Jones, Jeremy Messer, and Jason Messer; a host of great-grandchildren; sisters, Dora Bowles and Gracie Gambrel; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and special friends, Rev. Ron Hensley and the staff of Britthaven of Pineville.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Hensley presiding. Burial will be in the Big Jim Cemetery at Arjay with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Friday after 5 p.m. at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville, which is honored to serve the Smith family. Light a virtual candle or sign guest register at www.arnettsteele.com.
