To the editor:

Proud citizens of Middlesboro, April is time once again for KY PRIDE Spring cleanup.

Congressman Hal Rogers is continuing to spearhead this program and last year we had around 25,000 volunteers who gave of their time and efforts to keep Kentucky beautiful. Here in the month of April 2009 during the PRIDE Spring Cleanup the City of Middlesboro had 119 Volunteers who put in 549 hrs picking up 261 bags of trash. This number does not reflect several groups who participated but failed to turn in paperwork nor does it reflect the work of the street dept. who spent an entire day with several employees trucks and machines cleaning the alley behind the new Aarons store on 25E.

Because the contract we have with our Waste Collection co. allows us to handle our rubbish so efficiently we were able to accomplish this at no cost to the PRIDE program.

We do want to thank all of our citizens who have demonstrated the pride they do have in their city and it is our hope to do it even bigger and better this year. This year theme is 'Team Pride: It Starts With Me.' T-Shirts, yellow in color and with this theme on the back will be handed out the day of your event. These events will go on during the entire month of April. If you have not been contacted and wish to participate please contact Randy Melton by calling city hall or 606-499-3677 or emailing middlesborocodes@yahoo.com as soon as possible.

Sincerely yours,

Randy Melton

Middlesboro Pride Coordinato
