To the editor:

We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the community for the support that has been shown to the homeless shelter. First, we would like to express our appreciation to the following churches in Pineville who held luncheons during Holy Week Services and donated the collections to the shelter. First Methodist, West Pineville Baptist, Church Of The Nazarene, Saint Anthony, The First Baptist, and The First Christian. The Director for the shelter Eulene Brock and I (Joyce Wichman/ Board Secretary) enjoyed the Holy Week Services and the fellowship at each of these churches. We thank each and everyone involved. The donations of food, supplies, and the volunteers are very appreciated and though it is hard to mention all by name, it means a lot to us. The community support is essential and we are pleased at how much support you, as a community have given. Pineville and Middlesboro alike have been supportive and the shelter has helped many people from both of these cities, and though they are divided as cities, they are in the Bell County community and Bell County has pulled together to help ease the burdens for many of our homeless. This winter was overwhelming, but we put out cots and did everything we could to help, some who didn't stay, were welcome to stop and eat a warm meal. This would not be possible without your help and we are truly grateful. We hope that you will continue to support the Lighthouse Safe Haven Shelter and feel free to stop by and take a look at our facility. On behalf of the Board of Directors, Eulene Brock Director, and myself, Thank you and may God bless each of you.

Joyce Wichman

My name is Johnnie Sue Bridges, and I am a native author from Appalachia’s Middlesboro, Kentucky. My heart always aches for the homeless. Thank you for providing shelter to those in need from my hometown and the surrounding area. Perhaps when I come to Middlesboro, I can do a book signing for you, with all of the proceeds to go to your homeless shelter. Please contact me if you are interested and I will see what I can do to make this happen. Brandy Calvert of the Middlesboro Daily, knows how to reach me.

ALSO, if anyone knows of a charity that deals directly with troubled youth, I will do a book signing for the youth, with all of the proceeds going directly to the organization, as well. Children are the very root core to my heart. Proverbs 22:6

God Bless

Johnnie Sue Bridges
