MIDDLESBORO — Flora J. Hunley, age 85, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Born October 28, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Ditt and Louisa Yoakum. She was saved at an early age and live the Christian life every day. She loved WMIK Christian radio, and was a friend to everyone she met.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clair Hunley; her beloved son, Bill Hunley; three brothers, Chester L. Yoakum, Troy F. Yoakum, infant brother Elbert H. Yoakum; father-in-law, Charlie Hunley; mother-in-law, Lucy J. Hunley Luttrell and step father-in-law, Elmer Luttrell; brothers-in-law, Norman Hunley, Charles Hunley, the Rev. Oscar Garrett and Lowell Stooksbury; sisters-in-law, Alma Yoakum, Alta Stooksbury, Selda Garrett and Olive Hunley; nephews, Terry Yoakum, Lawrence “Reb” Lipscomb; and niece, Ann Yoakum.

Left to mourn her passing are her daughters, Linda (Eric) Stevenson, Patricia (Steve) Huddleston, Selda (David) Sowders, and Alta (Rick) Emmett; daughter-in-law, Lee Hunley; grandchildren, Lisa Edlin, Doris (Linnis) Evans, Scott (Brandy) Huddleston, William Hunley Jr. Mark (Kristen) Huddleston, Jody Hunley, Tim Sowders, Jake Sowders, Natalie Emmett, and Hayley Emmett; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Yoakum and Emma Lee Hunley; great-grandchildren, Katy, Nick, Brandon, Lindsey, Ashley, Alexis, Stefanie, Abbey, Brooklyn, and Jake T; and a host of nieces, nephews, many dear friends and other relatives.

Funeral service were held 2 p.m., Monday, April 26, at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Danny Robbins officiating.

Burial was at Green Hills Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were her grandsons.

The family received friends from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, April 26, at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel.

Shumate Funeral Home is entrusted with all arrangements.

I also wanted to mention that we are the children of Bob and Christine Fuson.We lived in the first house on left on Wilson Lane,right across from Mrs.Everly and Gaines.

Modena Granger,Ray Fuson,Bobby Wayne Fuson who were neighbors to Flora,Clair and children in Beans Fork,are sorry for your loss.Many memories of the old days.God Bless!!!!!!!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember Flora well from when I was growing up in Noetown. She was a fine lady. She and my mother Alice Christian were friends. I'm praying for your family.
