Born in Harlan, Ky., Katie Lee Spriggs will be reunited with her parents, Oscar and Isabel Simms; brother, Samuel Coleman; sisters, Mattie Ballenger and Lovella Thomas Worthington; and son, Norman Spriggs.
She is survived by her ex-husband, James T. Spriggs; children, Clay Spriggs, James T. Spriggs Jr., Robert T. Spriggs, and Isabel Spriggs; grandchildren, Jamayka Spriggs, Danielle Spriggs, Justin Avery, and Dion Spriggs; and other relatives and many friends who touched her life in one way or another.
She was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Middlesboro, and shortly after that was united in marriage to James T. Spriggs. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She loved to travel extensively with her family, enjoyed singing, and was a TV news fan. Katie Spriggs had a gift and that was helping others. When she would go shopping, not only did she shop for herself, but for others as well.
Burial service will be held Friday, April 30, at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
