LOG MOUNTAIN — Recent rainy weather has made it tough for area teams to get their games in so the Pineville Mountain Lions and Bell County Bobcats got together Wednesday evening.

It was the homestanding Bobcats that came out on top, knocking off the Lions 13-3 in five innings.

Brian Thacker led Bell with three hits in the game and scored three runs. Senior Mitchell Mayes, who started and got the win, put the Bobcats on top in the first inning with a three-run double down the right field line and they never trailed.

Ricky Pletcher had two hits, drove in two runs and scored one. Brian Fields had an RBI single, walked and scored twice while John Dudley Hilton singled and scored run.

Senior Jake Jones didn’t get a hit but walked three times and was hit by a pitch and came around to score twice. Catcher Taylor Mills was hit by pitches twice and came around to score both times, including the game-ender on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fifth inning.

For Pineville senior Shawn Madon drove in two runs: one on an RBI single for the only Mountain Lion hit in the game and the other on a sacrifice fly.

Dalton Simpson reached on errors twice and scored two runs while Jarrod Nunnelley walked and scored the other Pineville run.

Bell County (6-19) plays at Barbourville this evening at 5:30 p.m. while Pineville (6-10) is off until Monday’s 51st District tournament at Union College where they’ll take on Knox Central at 5 p.m.
