MPD officials received word that Shane S. Overbay, 34, of Middlesboro was staying at the Parkview Motel and ruled to serve him with local warrants.
Upon doing so, MPD officials found Overbay with Sarah K. Padworski, 27, of Middlesboro — a fugitive of Virginia.
MPD Lieutenant David Buis stated that Padworski was wanted in connection with several drug-related crimes recently committed in Virginia.
According to Lt. Buis, officials also found and confiscated drugs from the motel room. He maintained that authorities had an idea of what types of drugs were in their possession, but could not elaborate any further.
Buis said that the confiscated substances were sent to be analyzed, and the results are currently pending.
Overbay was arrested and served three bench warrants for court, as well as two other warrants for another police agency.
Lt. Buis said that Overbay could possibly face other criminal charges, including drug possession, as part of the arrest. Charges will depend upon drug analysis, said Buis.
Padworski was arrested and charged with first degree possession of a controlled substance (first offense), second degree possession of a controlled substance (first offense), and use or possession of drug paraphernalia (first offense).
Overbay and Padworski were lodged in the Bell County Detention Center.
MPD Detective Joe Holder was the arresting officer.
An arrest is an accusation only. Individuals arrested are considered to be innocent, unless proven guilty in a court of law.
