Three students from The First Tee of Pine Mountain recently had the opportunity to attend The Hank Haney Jr. Golf Academy (HHJGA).

The HHJGA recently joined The First Tee to help promote Jr. Golf. The newly formed Academy is located in Hilton Head, SC. Twenty-Nine students from across the country were selected, with The First Tee Pine Mountain having three students selected.

Those selected were: Lindsay Leigh Davis- Tazewell, Tenn., LaTosha Davis- Williamsburg, Ky. and Michael Wilson- Middlesboro, Ky.

The selection process was determined by essays written by the students, explaining what The First Tee has meant to them. The Academy was held June 3rd-5th.

“The HHJGA was such a great experience. Mr. Haney was great and helped me tremendously. It was really a once in a life time opportunity. I would like to thank The First Tee Pine Mountain for all they have done for me,” said Cumberland Gap High School senior, Lindsay Leigh Davis.

With the success of this year's academy, HHJGA hope to expand to sixty participant in the following years.

“This program is such a wonderful asset to our community and our kids. We encourage everyone to take advantage of these opportunities,” said Executive Director Jan Gann.

The First Tee Pine Mountain has started it's summer programing. For more information regarding this program call Wasito Winds Golf Course at 337-1066 or www.thefirstteepinemountain.org.
