TAZEWELL, Tenn. — A New Tazewell woman was arraigned in court Thursday on a vehicular homicide charge for a crash that resulted in a teenager’s death earlier in June.

Thelma Beth Trent, 31, appeared before a judge Thursday and was given a $250,000 bond. She is on house arrest and will appear in court on Thursday, July 1.

The victim was identified as Andrew Haskel Harmon, 17, a volunteer for the South Claiborne Volunteer Fire Department. He would have started his senior year at Claiborne High School this fall.

According to a highway patrol report, a 1999 Ford 4x4 driven by Trent was traveling west on Lone Mountain Road when it crossed the center line and hit the 2003 Chevrolet S14 Harmon was driving head-on. The accident occurred on June 14th.

Trent is due back in court on July 1.
