The Tri-State area is gearing up for July 4th. Several celebrations are slated throughout the day on Sunday.

Middlesboro plans to kick off its annual celebration at noon with several bands at the Community Center on North 30th Street. Starting at 12:05-12:50 is Dark Ridge; from 1-1:45 is S&S Express; 1:55-2:40 is Tazewell Pike; 2:50-3:35 is Dark Ridge; 3:45-4:30 is S&S Express; and from 4:40-5:10 is Tazewell Pike.

Along with music, there will be free food. At dark, fireworks will be shot from 12th Street on Highway 25E at the hill across from Kroger’s.

In Pineville, the celebration will be held today at the Pineville City Pool from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be inflatables, free food, drinks, prizes, swimming, and free t-shirts. It’s sponsored by the Pineville Rotary Club and the City of Pineville.

While the City of Harrogate isn’t putting on a celebration, Gap Creek Baptist Church in Arthur will be putting on a party starting at 6 p.m. on Sunday with food, entertainment, and fireworks at dark.

The City of Tazewell will not be having a Fourth of July Celebration.

The Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum at Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) will celebrate the holiday by offering free admission on July 4 and 5. In addition to the free admission, 19th century games will be available for families both indoors and on the Museum’s front lawn. The Museum will be open from noon until 5 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Historic Speedwell Academy, located at 220 Academy Road, Speedwell, Tenn., will celebrate Independence Day with an open house today and Saturday, from 1 to 5 p.m. Free refreshments will be served. T
