Born November 20, 1940, in Rockcastle County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Anna Pruitt and Charles Pruitt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Louis Raines; brother, Andy Pruitt; daughter-in-law, Donna Raines; granddaughter, Hannah Raines; brother-in-law, Barnie Bryant and infant great-grandson.
She leaves behind three sons, Jimmy (Kitty) Raines of Middlesboro, Donny Raines of Harrogate, and David (Cissy) Raines of Middlesboro; grandchildren, Jessica Raines, Ashley Raines, Erica Raines, Daniel Raines, Matt Raines, Jordan Balleu, Jeffery Ellis, Travis Kinkade, and Jenna Kindade; great-grandchildren, Isaac Lefeveres and Kaedance Sparks; sisters, Lorene (Barney) Bryant, Hazel (George) Yax, Edith (Jack) Parsons, Judy (John) Albin; special friends, Liz Vonne, Deloras Barton, and Sue Simpson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed.
“For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God and houses are not made with hands eternal in the heavens for in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven. If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened; not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. Now he that wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the spirit. Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilist we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord, (For we walk by faith, not by sight.) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body and be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:1-8)
Graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 8, at Green Hills Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dale Jones officiating. The family will meet at Shumate Funeral home at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday to proceed to the cemetery.
