Born December 11, 1966, in Pineville, he was the son of Billy Ray and Mevelene Carnes. He was a believer in the Pentecostal faith and had worked at his mother Mev’s grocery store.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Juanita and Mathice Carnes, and Kenneth Lee Frye; uncle, David Frye; and an aunt, Glenda Frye.
Survivors include his loving wife of 24 years, Betty Carnes; the joy of his life, daughter Nikki Carnes; his mother who loved him very much Mevelene Carnes and father Billy Ray Carnes of Arjay; sisters, Melissa Christopher of Arjay, and Pamela Carnes of Arjay; brothers, Michael (Angie) Carnes of Arjay, Jamie (Kim) Carnes of Arjay; special nieces, Ashley (Dustin) Goodin of Pineville, and Megan Carnes of Arjay; nephews, T.R Christopher of Arjay, Jamie Carnes of Arjay, Derrick Fugate of Arjay, Brandon Carnes of Arjay, Eli Christopher, Dylan Carnes and Jonathan Taylor; and a host of other family and friends.
Billy Ray was a loving husband, father, son and uncle.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 9, at the Arjay Pentecostal Church with the Rev. George Neal and the Rev. Gary Wagner presiding. Music will be provided by church members.
Burial will follow in the Carnes and Messer Cemetery in Knox county. Pallbearers will be T.R Christopher, Jimmy Carnes, Brandon Carnes, Derrick Fugate, Dustin Goodin, Jamie Frye, Jerry Frye, James Frye, Stevie Bryant, Larry Frye and Kenneth Frye.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 8, from 6 p.m. until the funeral hour Friday at 2 p.m. at the Arjay Pentecostal Church.
