TAZEWELL, Tenn. — A man pleaded guilty Friday to strangling his wife to death in New Tazewell in July 2009.

Tony Eugene Harrison pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. He was sentenced to 20-years in prison with credit for time served.

Harrison was originally charged with criminally-negligent homicide for the death of Vickie Harrison, 42, at their home — but the charge was later raised to first-degree murder.

Investigators said Harrison strangled her when she was getting ready for work on July 8, 2009.

Autopsy results showed that Vickie Harrison also took several blows to the face and body.

After she was killed, investigators said Tony Harrison emptied their bank account and took their children to his parents’ home in Kentucky.

The Harrisons grew up together and were married for 21 years.

They have a daughter and a son.
