PENNINGTON GAP, Va. — Marcella Arney Gilliam Catron, age 85, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at the Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, Tenn.

She was a member of the Rock Lick Freewill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Gilliam and Bruce Catron; parents, L. L. and Virginia Bell Arney; three sisters, Jeanette Arney Steele, Geneva Arney Debusk, and Roxie Arney; three brothers Lee Boy, Earnest and Claude Arney; and two daughters-in-law, Loudema Gilliam and Sandy Gilliam.

Survivors include one daughter, Teresa Standifer of Pennington Gap; four sons, Ronnie Gilliam of Clinchport, Va., Gary Gilliam of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Roger Gilliam of Middlesboro, and Bruce Catron of Hopewell, Va.; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Cooney and husband, Kenneth of Lexington, Ky., and Jewel Cross of Naples, Fla.; a special nephew, Bud Steele; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Cindy Carter and Barbara Bailey.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Arney-Mullins Funeral Home in Jonesville, Va.

Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. David Kerns officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Va. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery prior to services.
