CORBIN — The Pineville Mountains played well, especially on defense, Friday as they dropped tough 8-6 decision to Williamsburg in an SEKC Grid-o-rama at Corbin.

Neither team scored until late in the second 20-minute half as Williamsburg found the end zone and converted a two-point conversion.

On Pineville's final possession new starting quarterback Jamie Roan hooked up with senior receiver Eric Raby on a deep ball that went for a score. The Lions weren’t able to convert on their two-point try.

Coach Bart Elam (pictured talking to the team after the scrimmage) said he saw a lot of good things Friday.

“Our D-line played great. Everybody had some great moments and everybody had some moments where they looked kind of lost,” he said. “Neither team showed much and we’re not worried about the scoreboard. We’re just excited to have another scrimmage next week so we can keep trying to get better.”

The Lions scrimmage at Leslie County Thursday and will open the season on Aug. 27 at McCreary Central.
