Coal severance projects approved for Bell Co.

FRANKFORT - Seventeen of 36 coal severance projects have been approved for Bell County by the state Governor's Office for Local Development, or GOLD. Over a half-million dollars will be filtered into the county with this funding.

State Rep. Rick Nelson, D-Middlesboro, said today that checks for the projects should be issued as soon as necessary paperwork from the Bell County Judge-Executive's Office is processed by GOLD.

Nelson said he is glad that the county's coal funds have started to be distributed for the benefit of its citizens.

"County Judge Albey Brock and I have worked together on this process to help move this along," said Nelson. "We will be pushing the GOLD office to expedite the paperwork so that the other projects can move along in a speedy manner."
