John Steven “Stevie” Payne: The Boss, passed away Saturday October 20, 2012 at Pineville Community Hospital at the age of 36. He was born on February 26, 1976 to Bernice Overton Payne and the late John Payne, Jr. He had been self-employed at Payne Custom Builders. He loved taking his son Dalton fishing, playing basketball, riding his dirt bike and working.

He was predeceased in death by his father, John Payne, Jr.; brother, Phillip Payne; father-in-law, Orville “Poodle” Sinkhorn.

He is survived and fondly remembered by his wife, Jennifer Payne; daughter, Andrea Nicole Payne and son, John Dalton Payne; mother, Bernice Payne; brother, James Matthew “Jimmy” Payne; sister, Judy Ann Smith; special niece, Ashley Payne; special friends, Jason Sanders, Jonathan Slone, Billy Rye and Shawn Elliott; he enjoyed all of Andrea and Daltons friends; a host of special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday October 24, 2012 at the Brooks-Durham Funeral Home with Rev. J.C Craig. Music will be provided by Lindsay Knuckles. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Payne, Jeff Smith, Jonathan Slone, Chad Payne, Todd Smith, Billy Rye, Kevin Emery, Charles Mosley, Jason Sanders, Shawn Elliott, Bobby Baker, Charles Payne and Josh Knuckles. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Green, Bill Keyes, Benny Raby, Jimmy Haley, Jamie Haley and Craig Brock.

Burial will be in the Payne Cemetery, Pineville. The family will receive friends after 3 p.m. Tuesday October 23, 2012 until the 9 p.m. at Brooks-Durham Funeral Home.
