A Middlesboro man was arrested after he allegedly attempted to break into a local business on Sunday.
Jack D. Gore, 30, was arrested by officers from the Middlesboro Police Department (MPD) and charged with third-degree burglary after allegedly attempting to break into C & L Metals.
According to the arrest citation, Gore allegedly pushed the air conditioning unit out of the window and attempted to enter the business. Officers arrived as Gore was attempting to enter the business.
The owner of the business was contacted and confirmed that he did not give Gore permission to enter or take anything from the business. According to the Bell County Detention Center website, Gore was being held on a $10,000 bond.
Two men were also arrested on drug possession charges over the weekend. Claude Elvis Dixon, 46, of Middlesboro, was arrested and charged with second-degree possession of a controlled substance.
According to the arrest citation, MPD officer Joe Holder observed Dixon in the parking lot of the Family Dollar, located along west Cumberland Avenue. When spotted, Dixon was allegedly staggering as he was walking.
The release stated that on contact, Dixon allegedly had slurred speech, glossy eyes and was unsteady. At that point, Dixon was arrested on the possession charge and was also arrested for public intoxication with a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia and for a prescription controlled substance not being in its original container.
Leonard Ancil Nickols, 42, of Tazewell, Tenn., was arrested by MPD officer Barry Cowan and charged with first- and third-degree possession of a controlled substance. According to the arrest citation, when the vehicle was stopped, Nickols gave Cowan consent to search the vehicle.
The citation said that during the search Cowan found a blue round tablet marked 30 on one side and M on the other. There were also three round blue pills allegedly found in Nickols front pocket, which he said belonged to his wife.
Nickols was also arrested on the charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence and drug paraphernalia.
