ROCK HILL, S.C. — Lincoln Memorial senior guard Wally Jones has been named the South Atlantic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

A 6-2 guard hailing from Greensboro, N.C., Jones led the Railsplitters to a 75-68 victory over previously unbeaten King College on Sunday with a 21-point performance marked by a 6-9 effort from beyond the three-point line. Jones also finished the contest with five rebounds, one block and a steal to lead the way for the Railsplitters.

The 20th-ranked Railsplitters currently sit at 7-1 on the season and Jones has been a key component of that strong start, as he boasts a scoring average of 14.1 points per game to rank second on the team and first among the guards. He also leads the LMU back court with an average of 4.1 rebounds per outing, while leading the team in three-point field goal percentage (50-percent) and made three-pointers (23). He ranks fourth in the South Atlantic Conference in three-point field goal percentage.

Jones has tallied double-figure scoring in all eight of the Railsplitters’ games this season, highlighted by a pair of 17-point scoring efforts earlier in the season in wins over Newberry and Trevecca Nazarene.

He has nailed 38 of his 73 field goal attempts this season, while dishing out 21 assists and leading the team with 10 steals.

Jones and the Railsplitters will look to carry their momentum into Augusta, Ga., where they are poised to square off against 15th-ranked Augusta State University on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The Jaguars stand as the last remaining unbeaten in the Southeast Region.
