Sewell Martin, 88, of Anderson, joined his heavenly father on December 18, 2012 at Saint John’s Health System, Anderson. He was born on January 29, 1924 in Middlesboro, Kentucky and resided most of his life in Anderson.

He had been a coal miner for 20 years, a brick mason, and owner of Martin Construction.

Sewell was a member of Beans Fork Baptist Church. He had also belonged to the Coal Miner’s and Bricklayer’s Unions.

He was a loving husband and proud father of 10, and a friend to all he met and knew. Sewell never met a stranger.

Sewell is survived by his loving spouse with whom he would have celebrated their 69th anniversary in January, 2013, Mary (Rains) Martin; children, Barbara Martin, Judith (Bruce) Womack, Doug “Arnold” (Shelia) Martin, Joyce (Mike) Miller, Elmer (Mary) Martin, Robin (Garry) Brammer and, Mia (Mark) Kimmerling; 18 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luster and Sarah (Carmack) Martin; three children, Wilma Bell, Sarah Pitts, and Sewell Edward Martin and 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

Visitation was held Saturday, December 22, 2012 from 11:00-1:00 p.m. with a service immediately following at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd St. Anderson with the Pastor Gary Cable officiating.

Burial took place in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
