A Middlesboro man was arrested on Wednesday after attempting to walk out of Walmart with a 50-inch TV in his possession.
Brandon Lee Cavins, 30 of Middlesboro, was arrested by Barry Cowan of the Middlesboro Police Department (MPD) on a charge of theft by unlawful taking over $500.
According to the arrest citation, employees with Walmart Loss and Prevention, watched Cavins push the TV, valued at $548, past all points of purchase.
Cavins was confronted after he walked out the doors, according to police.
According to the citation, Cavins fled on foot after being confronted and was apprehended on KY 441 behind Walmart.
He remained in custody at the Bell County Detention Center late Thursday afternoon, according to the center’s website.
In other police news, a Middlesboro man was arrested for fraudulent use of a credit card. Mitchell L. Hembree Jr., 28, was arrested on the charge by Joe Holder of the MPD.
According to the citation, Mitchell Hembree Jr. allegedly used the stolen credit card at J.C. Penney. The total amount spent was more than $500. He was also charged with three counts of second-degree forgery.
According to the citation, Mitchell Hembree Jr. was arrested at the residence of Jeffery Hembree, 41, of Cumberland Gap, Tenn. Upon arrival at the residence, Holder allegedly saw the two sitting in a vehicle.
As a result of a search, Jeffery Hembree was arrested on the charge of first-degree possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after Holder allegedly found oxycodone and syringes in his possession.
Jeffery Hembree also remained in custody at the detention center Thursday afternoon.
A Pineville man was also recently arrested on charges of carrying a concealed deadly weapon and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
According to the citation, Paul H. King Jr., 46, allegedly had the pistol placed in the left leg of his pants. He remained in custody Thursday afternoon.
