Two students from Bell Central won first place in the state Junior Beta Club competition.

Cammie Brock and Amber Sizemore won the award in their respective categories and will be heading to the national competition in Mobile, Ala., in June.

Brock took first place in the area of pastels, while Sizemore took first place in the craft area of quilting.

“It was amazing,” said Sizemore. “I didn’t think I would place because it was my first year.”

Brock was just as excited about winning the competition.

“It was really fun,” said Brock. “I have never done a pastel drawing, and I’m glad it came out that good.”

According to Bell Central’s Trina Fuson, this is the 1oth year the school has competed in the Junior Beta Club competition.

She said Bell Central has had students advance to the national competition nine times.

Bell Central sent 28 members to the competition this year. The competition is based on academics and art.
