EAST PINEVILLE — The Pineville Lady Mountain Lions took advantage of 13 walks in the top of the seventh inning as they scored 15 runs in the frame to pull out a 23-13 win at Bell County in the season opener for both teams on Friday.

The Lady Cats led it 4-1 after one inning and scored six runs in the 6th to take a 13-8 lead before Pineville walked their way to victory in the seventh.

Lizzie Lee-Theis and Erica Gambrell led the Lady Lion offense as both singled and doubled in the game. Gambrell drove in three runs while Lee-Theis knocked in four. Rebecca Lee-Theis, Aly Knuckles and Kameron Jackson also had hits in the game for Pineville while Kelsey Goodin walked four times and scored four runs. Emily Mullins and Amy Allen both scored three runs in the game while Brook Sanders walked six times and also scored three runs.

For Bell County, Haley Goodman had two singles and a double as she drove in two runs and scored three times. Morgan Garnett had a pair of hits and drove in two runs as did Lucinda Burkhart. Alexis Williams singled twice and scored a pair of runs while Hillary Lowe singled, walked twice and scored two runs and Jess Sanders added a base hit, a walk and a run scored.

Rebecca Lee-Theis pitched all seven innings for the Lady Lions to pick up the win while Courtney Baker took the loss for the Lady Cats.

Bell County (0-1) hosts Middlesboro on Monday while Pineville (1-0) will be back in action on Thursday at home against Lynn Camp.
