Betty Berniece Ledford, age 89 of Middlesboro, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012. She passed away at Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Born on March 22, 1923, at Gatliff, she had been a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother.
She was the daughter of the late Frank Monhollen and Odie Mae Perkins Monhollen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sebastian (Bass) Ledford; her daughter, Sandra Washburn; two sons: Fred and Jack Ledford; two grandsons, Freddie and Heath; and two brothers, Jack Monhollen and J.D.Sams.
She is survived by her children, Clark Ledford and wife Terri, Barbara Ledford and William Thomas Ledford, all of Middlesboro, John Ledford and wife Velvet of Ewing, Va., and Shirley Ledford of Smiths Grove; her grandchildren: Freda, Mary Beth, Tensie, Daniel, Gary, Melissa, Rachael, Maranda, Jack Sebastian; plus several great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William Boyd Bingham presiding.
Burial will be in Oakview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Todd Bayless, Jack Goins, Jim Davis, Don Cupp, Travis Hobbs, Jerry Mullins and Danny Ray Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. C A Moore and Dr. Doiron.
The family received friends from 6-9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel.
