Funeral service for Myrtle Marlar-Baker, age 87 of Lawton, Okla., will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dean Thompson officiating.

Myrtle (Granny) went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012. She passed away in Lawton.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service.

She was born May 12, 1925 at Ponza, and grew up in Kentucky. She married MSG (Retired) Dave Marlar on Oct. 2, 1943, in Pineville. He preceded her in death on Nov. 11, 1989. They traveled in the Army until he retired in Lawton in 1962.

Myrtle was a proud homemaker, wife and mother. She loved to plant flowers and always grew a garden with which she canned and made many wonderful meals to share. She was a Sunday school teacher for the youth and then the adults and also sang in the church choir where she was a member at the Westside Church of God in Lawton for over 20 years.

She married Bert Baker on June 1, 1996, and had been a member of the Brockland Free Will Baptist Church for almost 20 years.

She is survived by her husband, Bert Baker of Lawton; a granddaughter, Keri Lea Harrell, Lawton; two great grandchildren, Sabrina Ann Harrell, Lawton, and AE4 Joshua Dave Harrell and wife Melinda, Lexington Park, Md.; a brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Fay Jones, Pineville; a step-daughter, Gloria Ziegler and husband Mark, Lawton; a step-son, Bill Baker and wife Nelda, Sallisaw, Okla.; two step-grandchildren, Jennifer and Brian Honeyager, Lawton, and Brendan and Ashleigh Baker, Sallisa, Okla.; two step-great-grandchildren, Cade Baker and Ahana Baker.

In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Patricia Ann Bowen; brothers, Hopper Tom Thompson and Herbert Thompson; and a sister, Ethel Lamar.

The family will greet friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
