Lois V. Brooks, age 87, of Lafollette, Tenn., formerly of Middlesboro, passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at the Tennova Health Care in Lafollette.

She was born March 16, 1925, in Claiborne County, Tenn., and was the daughter of the late Carlie and Lillie Hampton Brooks. She had been a school teacher at the West End Elementary School for 34 years. She was a Silver Sister of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Ray Brooks; one brother, Earl Brooks; and one sister, Colleen Yeary.

She is survived by the following members of her family: one sister, Norma Jean Herrell of Lafollette, Tenn.; special long-time friends, Tom and Kay Carswell; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Creech Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be private.
