Peggy Geraldine Humphrey Tweed, 85 of Knoxville, TN, departed this life for her heavenly home on Friday February 15. She was born May 24, 1927 in Harlan, KY, the daughter of the late Frank and Edna House Humphrey.

Mrs. Tweed was a member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church of Lafollette, TN. She is best remembered as a hard-working, devoted mother. She was a graduate of the Kentucky Business College and she was employed for many years as a bookkeeper for the Harlan Daily Enterprise. An avid reader, she had varied interests and was talented in ceramics, quilting, cooking and canning fresh vegetables from her garden. She was also a member of the Powell Valley Homemakers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Jack, Bill, Ted and Jimmy Humphrey.

She is survived by the following members of her family: daughter: Victoria Tweed Howard; son: Michael William Tweed; granddaughter and husband: Carla Howard-Torres and Francisco Torres; grandsons: Josh P. Howard and Tyler M. Tweed; granddaughter: Emily T. Tweed; great grandson: Christopher Hayden Torres; sister: Barbara Humphrey Tweed; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, at the Elm Grove Baptist Church Church in Lafollette, TN, with the Rev. Tim Russell presiding.

Music will be provided by the Elm Grove Church Choir.

Interment will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the Resthaven Cemetery at Loyall, KY.
