Lady Lions defeat Thomas Walker, 62-23
Pineville’s strong start to the season continued on Tuesday when the Lady Lions hosted Thomas Walker, Virginia. For the third straight game, the Pineville girls basketball team defeated an opponent by double-digits with a 62-23 victory over the Lady Pioneers.
While the season is still early, the Lady Lions have definitely shown their potential in the past three games. With the exception of Jackson County, Pineville has been able to maintain big leads without much of an issue.
It was Jill Enix and Raigan King leading the charge on Tuesday with both finishing in double digits. The duo combined for more points than the entire Thomas Walker girls basketball team.
Enix finished shooting 60 percent from the field while racking up a team-high 18 points. King tallied 15 points on the night while going 9-of-11 from the charity stripe and hauling in a team-high seven rebounds.
Sarah Combs scored seven points, while Makenzie Fuson finished the game with six. Both Whitney Caldwell and Virginia Hall scored five points apiece.
Pineville (3-0) will square off against a tougher test at 7 p.m. on Friday when they host Williamsburg (1-0). The Lady Jackets knocked off reigning All A champs Harlan in the SEKC Panorama prior to the start of the regular season.
