Pineville works with PMC during renovations
The Pineville Mountain Lions are currently undergoing a weight room renovation. Changes to the weight room include: A new roof, lights, ceiling, paint, equipment and turf. Pineville will still retain some of their old equipment but are on the way to a state-of-the-art facility.
During the renovation, the Mountain Lions have been working in partnership with Pine Mountain Crossfit located at 106 West Kentucky Avenue in Pineville.
“Bobby Partin and Matthew Powers have been great,” said Pineville football coach Randy Frazier. “They let us bring as many kids as we want. It’s just like having a class – we load everyone up and come over here and work out together. It’s wonderful. We have 32 kids that we have with us most of the time, 28 of our mens athletes and four of our womens basketball players. They’ll compete against one another and try to make each other better.”
“The partnership with Pine Mountain Crossfit has been very beneficial for us,” said women’s basketball coach Jamie Mills. “It’s the boys and the girls together, pushing each other hard and working for one common goal. It’s always good to bring athletes together, especially when they’re working toward the same goal – to get better. It breeds competition and work ethic to benefit both teams.”
Along with all new equipment, Pineville’s weight room will have turf, which is extremely beneficial for multiple sports.
“We’re going to be adding turf to the new facility. On days that it’s raining or we have inclement weather, we can go inside and still be able to push sleds and things on the turf,” said Frazier. “It’s going to be an 80×30 building. If baseball is going on and they’re unable to use the field, they’ll be able to come inside and field grounders and everything – it’s going to help out a lot.
“We don’t want to deviate too much from what we have already. We want to make the weight lifting program more inclusive to all athletes, not just male athletes or football players. For the area, this is going to be a state-of-the-art facility that we can use to make our school better as a whole. We are thrilled and can’t wait to get in there and get to work. I would also like to thank the administration for their tireless effort in providing us with everything we need — we couldn’t do it without them.”
